Nicotiana alata aka "Flowering Tobacco"

This nicotiana is named for its "perfect" mix of flower colors: fuchsia, white, purple, salmon, lavender, rust, and bronze. It is a self-seeding annual that reportedly grows 5-6 feet tall (tho for us it was about 3 feet tall) . Flowers are also said to be "night-blooming" but we observed them blooming all day long throughout the summer and into the fall. We really enjoyed the perky trumpet-shaped flowers that just kept on blooming up and up the stalk for many weeks.

Developed at The Institute of Vegetable Breeding and Seed Production west of Moscow, ID. Grown organically but not certified.
