Astragalus membranaceous - Powerhouse Chinese legume renowned for building the immune system. Plants are about 2’ tall with pink and yellow elongated bell-shaped flowers and small leguminous seed pods. Will overwinter in milder climates. Third year roots are harvested for medicinal use. Scarify the seeds by rubbing gently with sandpaper before planting; start in spring in seedling trays, transplant out on 12" spacing. Protect from slugs when young. Grown organically but not certified.
