Capsicum annuum. Italian heirloom, large, 7" long tapering fruit, red when fully ripe. Heavy yielding, strong plants that didn't seem to rely much on the support we gave them. Marconi performed exceptionally well in our hoophouse with a harvest season several months long. Very sweet and flavorful. This pepper got rave review from a farmer friend who is experienced growing a wide variety of hybrid peppers for the fresh market - I was pleased to discover that I had been sucessful at finding an open-pollinated red italian type that was equally as delicious as their favorites.
