Allium cepa. This is the best open pollinated yellow storage onion we have found. Dr. Alan Kapuler started with a commercial European hybrid and reselected this as an open-pollinated variety under Organic conditions over many years. Heavy yields of 8-12 ounce round yellow onions with tight copper skin that keep remarkably well. In our 2014 storage onion trials, Newburg tied with Rosa di Milano, keeping well into April, and beating out industry standard hybrids. Our new go-to yellow storage onion. Grown organically but not certified.
