Winter Squash - Canada Crookneck (Certified Organic)
Old New England heirloom introduced commercially in 1834, reported to have originally been stewarded by the Iroquois Nation, this is a predecessor of the modern butternut squash. It is listed with the Slow Food Ark of Taste. Fruits average 3-4 lbs and have a long curved swan-like neck. Convenient shape, easy to peel, sweet golden flesh. One of the few C. moschata types that do well in our short season in the Pacific Northwest.
